The Tigers finish in second place after a full day of wrestling. The Tigers found themselves undefeated on the day going 5-0. Normally, this kind of effort leads to a first place finish, but Pearl River also went undefeated on the day. Therefore, the winner was selected based on criteria and the Tigers fell just one pin short of claiming first place spot. Geaux Tigers!!

The Tigers entered Destrehan’s gymnasium with some serious big shoes to filled. Since 2009, when Destrehan High School re-established wrestling as a varsity sport, the Tigers stand unbeaten in this rivalry. Last year, the Wildcats were shutout by a Tigers team lead by nine seniors from the class of 2012. Including LHSAA State Tournament placers Gavin Fish(6th), Cameron Fremen(3rd), Thomas Jones(4th), and James Poree(6th). In contrast to Wednesday night, when the Tigers took to the mat starting ten underclassmen out fourteen weight classes. The Wildcats looked confident in front of their home crowd, having multiple returning starters and new talent in their lineup. The dual started at 220 lbs. weight class. Where Destrehan took an early 6-0 lead. At Heavyweight, freshman Blade Rager pinned his opponent to tie the dual 6-6, but an unsportmans like conduct costs the Wildcats a team point making the score Hahnville-6 Destrehan-5. From there the Tigers got on a roll. After nine matches, the score is Hahnville-48 Destrehan-5. But, The Wildcats refuse to give up and their middle weights prove to be too much for the Tigers. The wildcats go on a roll and win three straight matches making the score Hahnville-48 Destrehan-22. The Tigers finish the dual taking the last two matches of the night. One by fall and the other on a forfeit. Final Score Hahnville-60 Destrehan-22. The Tigers reign in St. Charles Parish remains unscathed as the Tigers move to 1-0 in District competition and 4-0 against the Wildcats. Geaux Tigers!!
